Our Company History
For more than 80 years, Di Pesa & Company has made the practice of certified public accounting a family affair. Third-generation family member Dorothy (Dolly) Di Pesa has built Di Pesa & Company into one of New England’s largest woman-owned CPA firms. She has done this by staying true to her grandfather’s and father’s original mission: to provide an unprecedented level of professional service to clients; to treat employees like family; and to give back to the community in which we live and work. These tenets are engrained into the philosophy and culture at Di Pesa & Company making it one of greater Boston’s most well-respected firms.
While Di Pesa & Company is rooted in tradition, Managing Partner Dolly Di Pesa has left her own unique imprint by expanding the firm’s commitment to women and women-owned businesses. Under her direction, the firm qualifies as a Woman Business Enterprise. Additionally, Di Pesa & Company has extensive experience in providing professional services in the areas of private, governmental, profit, and not-for-profit organizations of all sizes.
Two specific areas of expertise worth special mention include our work with governmental and not-for-profit entities. Our Staff
One of the differentiators at Di Pesa & Company is the collective experience of our professional staff. Any time a Di Pesa & Company staff member is assigned to a client that professional has at least 10 years of experience in the particular specialty related to our client’s needs. We feel our commitment to integrity and confidentiality is best served with professionals who know our clients’ business, can respond quickly and quietly to any demands, and who can provide the high-level of knowledgeable service we have built our business on.
We never rest on our laurels. Every professional staff member is required to update their skills on a continuous basis through technical programs and seminars. Also, many members either hold or are pursuing advanced degrees. And several of the firm’s professional staff are Certified Public Accountants translating into more qualified professionals working with our clients.

Dorothy (Dolly) F. Di Pesa, CPA, Managing Partner
Dolly Di Pesa is a third-generation family member at the helm of the family business. While family values, tradition, and integrity are interwoven throughout the firm’s culture, Dolly has taken her expertise in public accounting and passion for women-led businesses to compliment the firm’s family-owned business section to grow Di Pesa & Company into one of New England’s largest woman-owned public accounting firms.
With more than 25 years of accounting experience, Dolly’s progressive leadership is the catalyst for the firm’s unparalleled professionalism, practical, and direct approach when dealing with clients. Dolly’s experience includes managing auditing engagements in construction, manufacturing, insurance, not-for-profit, and governmental organizations in the most efficient and consistent manner.
Community service is a thread that weaves itself throughout the Di Pesa & Company culture. Dolly is a member and active participant in dozens of not-for-profit clubs and organizations. Giving back to the community is simply an extension of her role as Managing Partner.
Following in the family tradition Dolly graduated from Bentley College with a Master’s Degree in Accountancy. She also received an AB in Special Education from Boston College.
John F. Oteri, CPA, Tax Partner
With almost 50 years of experience in public accounting, John Oteri aptly manages the firm’s administration and review process of all tax preparation and management consulting services for various state and federal agencies, municipalities, non-profit entities and human services agencies as well as the firm’s many profit oriented enterprises. A revered expert in taxation, John has spent his career ensuring his clients are efficiently organized and getting the most out of their resources, while taking full advantage of all appropriate tax advantages.
Di Pesa & Company has always been known for its progressive nature and John was drawn to the firm many years ago because of its reputation in the accounting community. John has been lucky enough to work with all members of the three-generation Di Pesa family and attributes much of the firm’s success to its close relationships between the partners and staff members.
Throughout his venerable career John spent many years of service in income tax and wealth preservation strategies, which translates into a level of expertise for his clients that is hard to find elsewhere in the industry.
As an active participant in many associations, John understands the importance of getting involved in the community and expanding his professional knowledge through community service.
John graduated from Boston College and has attended various graduate courses in taxation, accounting, and auditing.
Steven A. Kravetz, CPA, Senior Manager
Steve Kravetz’s more than 25 years of public accounting, auditing, and tax experience provides him with the knowledge to skillfully service his clients as a Senior Manager with Di Pesa & Company.
Prior to working with Di Pesa & Company, Steve was a tax consultant and Chief Financial Officer for varying-sized organizations and was also an audit manager with a Big Four CPA firm, where he audited a variety of industries both profit and not-for-profit.
Steve’s experience in both the public and private sectors brings a unique perspective to the clients he serves. Steve is most aware that being responsive to clients is critical to a long-term relationship.
Steve holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Northeastern University.
Community Service
The culture at Di Pesa & Company is largely focused on giving back to the community. Staff members are encouraged to get involved in community service activities. Additionally, the firm has provided pro-bono work in the areas of accounting, systems and other relevant areas. This not only provides first-hand knowledge of not-for-profit, but it reinforces the commitment we have to building a firm based on respect and family values.
